Are you stuck for blog post ideas?
I here you. Sometimes I can write title after title and then other times I am sat scratching my head, trying to come up with something original but absolutely nothing comes to mind.
My blog Anxious Lass is quite a personal blog specifically about social anxiety, but my most popular posts are those that give my readers value.
This is the same for ANY blog.
Your most popular, shareable, traffic grabbing posts will hands down ALWAYS be the ones that help your readers the most.
So how do you come up with killer blog post ideas that will provide value? How do you find out what your readers want?
Find out what your audience want
There are several ways you can discover what blog content your readers want to see.
You could actually ask them. Maybe send a feedback form via your email list or ask for suggestions in the comments at the end of a blog post.
Another way of finding out what they would like to read is by looking at your most popular posts and trying to emulate that success with similar topics.
Your audience obviously enjoys that content and I’d bet that they want to read more.
Another thing you can do is to find out what their pain points are. Go into forums or Facebook groups within your niche and look at the most common questions or struggles people are having.
Can you answer those questions with an in depth post? Can you teach them how to overcome their struggles with a piece of blog content?
Do a bit of keyword research
One of the most important aspects of coming up with blog post ideas for me, is keyword research.
Not only does this help you find the right keywords to rank for in search engines but it helps you to figure out what people are searching for in your niche.
I try to find to find low competition long-tail keywords in my niche that I can create in depth content for.
Turn one of your blog post ideas into several
Just because you’ve written one blog post about a specific topic, doesn’t mean you can’t write more.
There are several angles to take on each topic.
Let’s say for example, you’ve written a beginners guide to cooking one pot meals. Is that the only blog post you can write about one pot meals?
It’s definitely going to be the most comprehensive if it’s a beginners guide but there will be a potential audience searching for other aspects of one pot meals that you could take advantage of.
Take each of those aspects and turn them into separate in-depth blog posts, such as:
- Comforting One Pot Meals For Autumn/Winter
- Budget One Pot Meal Recipes
- Quick One Pot Meal Ideas
- Store Cupboard One Pot Meals
- One Pot Meals To Feed A Crowd
- One Pot Meals For Kids
- Impressive One Pot Meals For Parties
- Date Night One Pot Meal Ideas
- Meal Prep One Pot Meal Recipes
- One Pot Meals That Freeze Well
And there you have 10 more ideas from one topic.
So if someone comes to your blog because of your beginners guide to one pot meals, they will stay for several of your other one pot meal posts.
And for those that aren’t beginners but are interested in specific one pot meals, they are now more likely to find you through your other blog posts.
